Souvenir

Souvenir' is an installation artwork featuring a vending machine that sells badges modeled after social media verification marks, created against the backdrop of Twitter's transformation of verification badges into a paid subscription feature. The badges, accompanied by certificates of authenticity bearing Matsuda's signature, physically manifest the increasingly hollow digital verification systems, selling 5,000 units in just six months. By paradoxically materializing virtual validation through physical badges and certificates, the work gained attention for its critical examination of authenticity in digital platforms while suggesting new perspectives on contemporary value systems.

Twitterの認証マークが課金システムへと変質した時代を背景に制作された《Souvenir》は、SNSの認証マークを模したバッジを販売する自動販売機のインスタレーション作品である。松田直筆のサインが付された作品証明書と共に販売されるバッジは、SNS上で形骸化する承認システムを逆説的に実空間へと具現化する試みであり、約半年で5000個の販売を記録。バーチャルな承認を物理的なバッジと証明書として再解釈する手法は、デジタルプラットフォームにおける真正性の意味を問い直すと同時に、現代における価値の在り方を示唆する作品として注目を集めた。
