Bashō Sampling

『おくのほそ道』の舞台であり、古来より歌枕として文学史に深く刻まれてきた多賀城市において、現代的な視点で「場所」と「言葉」の関係性を再考する試み。江戸時代、松尾芭蕉が紡いだ詩情豊かな紀行文学の舞台を、現代のデジタル文化における「場所」の記録装置となったGoogleマップのレビューという形で捉え直しています。

多賀城市の創建1300年を記念した「ことばのアートプロジェクト」の一環として、歴史的史跡から現代の商業施設まで、様々な場所で市民や観光客の言葉を詩的表現として展開。SNSやデジタルメディアの日常的な言葉使いと、俳句・短歌という伝統的な定型詩との対話を試みることで、芭蕉の提唱した「不易流行」（普遍的なものと時代に即した変化の両立）の現代的実践として、デジタル時代における新しい歌枕の形を示唆しています。

This project is an attempt to reconsider the relationship between ""place"" and ""words"" from a contemporary perspective in Tagajo City - a significant setting in ""Oku no Hosomichi"" and a place deeply embedded in literary history as a classical poetic landmark (utamakura). It reframes the stage of Matsuo Basho's poetic travelogue from the Edo period through Google Maps reviews, which have become a modern-day recording device for ""place"" in contemporary digital culture.

As part of the ""Art Project of Words"" commemorating Tagajo City's 1300th anniversary, the project presents poetic expressions of words from citizens and tourists across various locations, from historical sites to modern commercial facilities. By creating a dialogue between everyday language used in social media and digital media with traditional fixed-form poetry like haiku and tanka, the project suggests a new form of utamakura for the digital age as a contemporary practice of Basho's concept of ""fueki ryuko"" (the coexistence of the permanent and the changeable).
