Adaptation

ミニマル・アートとポップ・アートを代表する20世紀の巨匠たちの代表的作品を、防災用品という新たな文脈で再解釈する試み。ソル・ルウィットの幾何学的な連作《シリアル・プロジェクト》、ドナルド・ジャッドの工業的な箱型彫刻《無題》、そしてアンディ・ウォーホルの消費社会批評《キャンベルスープの缶》という、現代美術史に名を刻む作品群を、それぞれトイレットペーパー、保存水ケース、非常食として再構築しています。

この作品が示唆するのは、能登半島地震などの災害時における芸術の無力さという根源的な問いに対し、フェーズフリー（平時と非常時の架け橋となる）という日本で生まれた概念を導入することで、一つの解答を提示している点です。美術館やギャラリーという制度的空間を超えて、日常生活の中に防災意識を織り込むことで、アートを現代に適応させています。

歴史的作品の現代的解釈としても示唆的であり、「芸術のための芸術」から「生活のための芸術」への転換を図ることで、アートと人命、作品と日常という二項対立の新たな関係性を提示しています。

This work reinterprets the masterpieces of 20th-century artists representing Minimal Art and Pop Art within the new context of disaster prevention supplies. The series recreates iconic works from art history - Sol LeWitt's geometric series ""Serial Project,"" Donald Judd's industrial box-like sculpture ""Untitled,"" and Andy Warhol's consumer society critique ""Campbell's Soup Cans"" - as toilet paper, water storage cases, and emergency food respectively.

What this work suggests is an answer to the fundamental question of art's powerlessness during disasters like the Noto Peninsula Earthquake, through the introduction of Phase Free - a concept born in Japan that bridges everyday life and emergency situations. By integrating disaster awareness into daily life beyond the institutional spaces of museums and galleries, this work adapts art to contemporary times.

As a contemporary interpretation of historical works, it offers insight into establishing new relationships between art and human life, artwork and daily life, by shifting from ""art for art's sake"" to ""art for life"" and reconsidering these traditional dichotomies.
