1986年生まれ、現代美術家。
2010年よりメディア・アクティビストとして活動を開始し、SNSを活用した参加型プロジェクトを展開。2017年から2020年にはベルリンを拠点に文化・政治コミュニティ「ベルリナー・ガゼット」に参加し、フォルクスビューネなどの欧州劇場でパフォーマンス作品を発表。現在は日本を拠点に活動しています。
松田の実践は、ヴィレム・フルッサー(1920年〜1991年)が提唱した「テクノコード」の概念を現代の文脈に応用することに特徴づけられます。テクノコードとは、技術装置が人々の創造性、思考、コミュニケーションの方法を形成・制約する力を持つことを指します。松田はこの概念を現代のプラットフォームやAI、アルゴリズムに延長して解釈し、アテンションエコノミーやミーム文化の性質を巧みに取り入れながら、風刺やユーモアを交えた詩的表現に昇華させることで、認識の枠組みを広げようとしています。この試みを、コミュニケーションコードを人間本来のものへと取り戻す「テクノイマジネーション」として位置付け、批評的かつ公共性を持つ対話の場を創出することを目指しています。
近年の代表的な展示に、「DXP(デジタル・トランスフォーメンション・プラネット)―次のインターフェースへ」(金沢21世紀美術館、石川、2023年)や「The Big Flat Now」(Dubai Festival City、ドバイ、2023年)など。2016年「Prix Ars Electronica」デジタル・コミュニティ部門でAward of Distinctionを受賞。
Shōei Matsuda / Masahide Matsuda
Born in 1986, Shōei Matsuda is a Japanese contemporary artist.
He began his career as an anonymous media activist in 2010, developing participatory projects utilizing social media platforms. From 2017 to 2020, he was based in Berlin, where he participated in the cultural and political community "Berliner Gazette" and presented performance works at various European theaters, including the Volksbühne Theater. He is currently based in Japan, continuing his artistic practice.
Matsuda's work is characterized by his application of the concept of "Techno-Codes," proposed by Vilém Flusser (1920–1991), within a contemporary context. Technocodes refer to the ways in which technological devices shape and constrain human creativity, thought, and communication. Matsuda extends this concept to interpret modern platforms, AI, and algorithms, skillfully incorporating the nature of attention economy and meme culture. Through satire, humor, and poetic expression, he seeks to broaden the frameworks of perception. This endeavor, which he refers to as "Techno-Imagination," aims to create a space for critical and public dialogue while reclaiming communication codes as a human-centered practice.
Recent notable exhibitions include "DXP (Digital Transformation Planet)" (21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, Japan, 2023) and "The Big Flat Now" (Dubai Festival City, Dubai, UAE, 2023). He received the Award of Distinction in the Digital Communities category at the Prix Ars Electronica 2016.
